A little while ago I was asked to shoot some aerial footage for a client of their holiday accommodation in Taylor Bay, Lake Eildon. I used a Canon 5D II for the shoot (borrowed from a friend) and my client hired a chopper. Shooting from a chopper has its challenges, not the least of which is trying to communicate with the pilot just where he or she needs to be in order for your composition to work.
The shoot went well (next time if I’m shooting moving images though I will take some sort of steady cam device) and the image above was shot whilst we were flying back to the landing point. The sun was setting over the lake, the scene was breathtakingly beautiful.
